Guide to Choosing the Best Vibrator

Choosing a vibrator to add to the mix can be difficult, given there are so many on the market. This guide will help you find the best vibrator to buy.
There are a number of questions to consider when buying a vibrator. Do you want to use it for internal use, is it for solo play or are you going to use it together as a couple, how big do you want it to be, and will you be using it in the bath or shower?

Choosing your first vibrator

We have written a guide on choosing your first vibrator so you should read that first. But if you want a brief summary, then here’s what you need to consider.
Firstly, as a new vibrator user, you probably don’t need a lot of power, so you should choose an affordable, battery operated vibe to begin with, one with internal and external stimulation so you can figure out what you like best.
Then just pay attention to the size of the vibe. This Bgee Classic by B Swish is a great first vibrator and it gives you pin-point clitoral stimulation plus g-spot vibes, and at 18cm it is not too big, nor too small. Just right for you and Goldilocks!

KINK: A vibrating butt plug will turn your play sessions into kinky play sessions. Wear one while making love, or just around the house when you are doing the cleaning – we promise it will be an adventure you won’t forget!
Types of Vibrators
There are a range of vibrators available, and they all stimulate different parts of your vagina. Read more below to get a better understanding of the stimulation each vibrator provides.

BULLET VIBRATOR
A bullet vibrator is a small or mini-vibrator, sometimes called a lipstick vibrator. It is called a bullet because its shape resembles a bullet. Most are about the height of your palm so they are good travel companions. Bullet vibrators are used externally, providing clitoral stimulation.

CLITORAL STIMULATOR
Clitoral stimulators are a new kind of vibrator. They don’t really vibrate, they use a kind of air suction which rushes blood to the clitoris and allows you to come very quickly. You just place it over your clitoris and come in under 5 minutes! Very pleasurable indeed! Womanizer and Satisfyer are the most popular brands, now LELO has joined in with Sona.

RABBIT VIBRATOR
A rabbit vibe is a combination of the two above, clitoral and g-spot, all rolled into one. So while the shaft goes in search of your g-spot, the rabbit ears stimulate your clitoris – it is the best of both worlds! You can easily start using your rabbit as just a clitoral vibrator and work you way up to inserting it for g-spot stimulation.

MAGIC WAND MASSAGER
Is it a massager or a vibrator? Well it’s both. It can be used for all over body massage, but it also vibrates and the round head makes it awesome for clitoral stimulation. In fact the reason it is so popular is because most magic wands are mains powered making them rather powerful. With an attachment it can be used internally.

COUPLES VIBRATORS
These are usually vibrators that are worn to stimulate both partners during sex. They include vibrating cock rings (worn by the man), finger vibrators, and the u-shaped couples vibes like We-Vibe. Most of these vibes provide clitoral stimulation during sex to make it easier to achieve an orgasm in the moment.

FINGER VIBRATORS
Finger vibrators should be thought of as a sub category to couples vibrators. They are useful as a warm up tool, a pre-sex vibrator, but can also be used during sex to help stimulate the clitoris and other parts of your body. Usually not super powerful, finger vibrators slide over or between your fingers.

How big do you want your Vibrator to be?
Who says size doesn’t matter? It’s important to check out the size and pull out your handy ruler to really visualise how big the vibrator is. We’ve had some customers who get their vibrators and are surprised by just how big they are!
You can find the sizing information on the product page under the tab “DETAILS”.
Big Vibrators
When most people are looking for big vibrators they are looking for a bit of both, width and insertable length. One of our largest vibrators is the Swan Wand – not quite a magic wand massager, but this can be used internally and externally and with an insertable length of 26 centimetres, you won’t be left wanting more!
Medium Vibrators
Most of our clitoral vibrators and g-spot vibrators are medium-sized vibes. These vibes would suit beginners who are seeking internal and external stimulation. A perfect example of a mid-sized vibrator is Svakom Keri.
Small Vibrators
Small vibrators can be super small – think mini sized, or just a regular bullet size. These types of vibes are fairly discreet, easy to store and very easy to take away on holiday with you. They are also great beginners vibrators as they are no intimidating. A highly recommended small vibe is the We-Vibe Tango – great for just about everything.
Sextech and vibrators
You hear a lot about technology and sex toys these days, and that’s because they can do some bloody amazing things! You can easily have a long distance sexual relationship with an app enabled vibrator. Kiiroo have a couples sex kit for long distance lovers that features a g-spot vibrator for her and a masturbator for him. You link them up via your phone and you can ‘feel’ each other.
And Kiiroo, We-Vibe and OhMiBod devices will all ‘talk’ to each other, so women can use their favourite We-Vibe Wish and guys can use the Kiiroo Onyx and you’ll be able to interact.
There’s also a lot of virtual reality(VR) porn to explore. More so if you are a man, so we’ll save that for another post, but ladies you can pop on your VR googles and explore the world of FeelMe.com with the Kiiroo Pearl or any app-enabled We-Vibe.
Do you need a Waterproof Vibrator?
Most newer vibrators are waterproof, for example the entire range of Tenga are all waterproof, as are most of Je Joue, Swan, Leaf, We Vibe, Fun Factory, LELO, Svakom, LoveToy and Rocks-Off. Waterproof means it can submerged in the bath or a swimming pool.
Make sure you read the waterproof description carefully as some of products are only splash proof which means they can’t be submerged but you can generally run a damp cloth over them for cleaning.
Waterproof vibrators are usually easier to clean as you can pop them into a sink of very hot water.
If you are going to be using your vibrator in water and need lubricant, then you will be needing oil or silicone based lube. Water based lubricants are water soluble so dissolve in water.
Rechargeable, batteries or mains-powered?
Did you know until a few years ago, hardly anyone searched for mains-powered vibrators? Since that little book, Fifty Shades of Grey, now everyone wants to know what is the mains powered wand Christian used on Ana…and the answer is a Magic Wand Massager. The original magic wand is the only mains powered vibrator available, although thankfully LELO have created a rechargeable version which is equally as powerful and waterproof!
Most vibrators at Mimi De Luxe are rechargeable as we see these as more beneficial for our customers (having a battery run flat at the critical moment is, well…frustrating!) and better for the environment.
